Image Background Remover & Changer
Works on real photos: tick the object with the green brush and the background with the red brush, and the cutout updates. For plain backgrounds, use the one-click colour mode.

How the photo cutout works
This is an interactive cutout, not a one-click AI model. You show the tool a few examples — green strokes on the object, red strokes on the background — and it learns the colours of each, then works out where the boundary lies by following edges in the photo. Where the object and background look alike (a brown dog on a brown sofa), add more strokes near that boundary. “Auto-guess” gives a first attempt by assuming the object is in the middle and the background is at the edges; turn it off if that is wrong for your picture. Use Edge position to shrink or grow the cutout slightly and Edge softness for a smoother border.
AI cutout (server). If the site owner has connected a background-removal server, an extra “AI cutout” tab appears. That mode needs a one-click result from an AI model, so it uploads your photo to that server (the tab says which one) and is the only mode here that does. The result can then be corrected with the paint brushes.
For logos, scans and studio shots on a plain background, Plain colour mode removes that colour with one click. Photos are processed on your device and scaled to at most 2000 pixels on the long side. Fine detail such as individual hairs will not be captured perfectly.
About the Image Background Remover & Changer
The Image Background Remover cuts the background out of a photo and lets you save the result as a transparent PNG or place the subject on a new colour or picture. It has three approaches: painting green and red brushes over the parts to keep and remove, a one-click plain-colour mode for photos on a uniform background, and an optional AI cutout that uses a server.
In the paint mode, you mark some of the subject in green and some of the background in red. The tool learns the colours of both areas and decides each pixel, and you correct mistakes with extra strokes. The plain-colour mode removes pixels similar to the colour you click, controlled by tolerance. The AI mode uploads your photo to a server running a segmentation model, so it is the only mode in which an image leaves your device; the tab says so before use.
How to use it
- Choose a photo and select Photo cutout, Plain colour or AI cutout.
- With the paint tool, draw on the object with Keep (green) and on the background with Remove (red); add more strokes where it is wrong.
- Adjust edge position and softness, then choose a transparent, solid colour or picture background.
- Press Download PNG.
Tips and good to know
- Short strokes in a few places work better than covering the whole area.
- Hair and fur edges usually need a softer edge setting.
- For product photos on a white wall, the plain-colour mode is quick.
