About ToolBench
ToolBench is a collection of free, practical online tools that run in your web browser. It started with a simple frustration: many everyday jobs, such as joining two PDFs, shrinking a photo for a form, converting a unit or working out an EMI, are buried behind sign-up screens, watermarks, file-size limits and uploads to servers you know nothing about. ToolBench aims to do these jobs quickly, clearly and without asking for anything in return.
What you will find here
The site currently has more than 150 tools in thirteen groups: PDF tools (merge, split, crop, edit, compress, convert), image tools (resize, crop, compress to an exact file size, edit, remove backgrounds, make favicons), video conversion, calculators for finance, health, maths and education, text and writing utilities, developer and web tools such as formatters, generators and encoders, and learning tools for children such as flashcards, clock practice, quizzes and printable worksheets. Each tool has its own page with an explanation of how it works, step-by-step instructions, tips and answers to common questions, so that you can judge the result rather than simply trust it.
Our approach
- Privacy first. The calculation, conversion or editing happens on your device. Your files and text are not uploaded to our servers. The one exception is the optional AI cutout mode of the background remover, which sends the single photo you choose to a small server for processing; the tool says so before you use it. Read the Privacy Policy for the full details.
- No sign-up and no paywall. Every tool is free to use. The site is supported by advertising.
- Explain, don't just output. We state formulas, assumptions and limits. For example, the PDF compressor explains that it turns pages into images, and the health calculators remind you that they give estimates, not medical advice.
- Test before publishing. Tools are checked against known answers, including edge cases such as leap years, empty input, large files and mobile screens. Where a tool depends on a standard, such as the Epley formula for one-rep max or the WCAG contrast ratio, we use the published definition.
- Keep improving. We add tools, fix problems that visitors report and revise explanations when something is unclear or becomes outdated. If a rate, rule or format changes, we update the page.
A note on accuracy
The tools are designed to be correct, but they are general-purpose aids. Calculators for money, health, law or tax give estimates based on the information you enter and on simplified models. They are not financial, medical, legal or tax advice. Please confirm important figures with a qualified professional or an official source before acting on them.
